Notice of Public Comment Period Proposed Plan Burial Site No. 1, FTG-07 Fort Gillem, Forest Park, Georgia The Department of the Army invites the public to review and comment on the Proposed Plan (PP) for Burial Site No. 1, FTG-07, at Fort Gillem in Forest Park, Georgia. The PP presents the U.S. Army's (Army) preferred alternatives to address contaminated groundwater at FTG-07. The PP describes investigations, risk assessments, and potential risk to human health at the FTG-07 Site. The PP is issued by the Army as the lead agency for cleanup at the FTG-07 Site in cooperation with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD), as support agency, and in accordance with the public participation requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. 9601 et seq. as amended) Section 117(a) and under 40 CFR Section 300.430(f)(2) of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP). The preferred alternative for groundwater at FTG-07 is Enhanced Bioremediation. Enhanced Bioreme-diation consists of the injection of nutrients and contaminant degrading microorganisms into the subsurface to accelerate the natural biodegradation of contaminants. Interested members of the public may review and comment on the PP during a 30-day Public Comment Period, from July 22 to August 21, 2020. The PP may be reviewed online at the following link: https://www.sas.usace.army.mil/About/Divisions-and-Offices/Planning-Division/Plans-and-Reports/ Written comments on the PP may be sent to Mr. Owen Nuttall, BRAC Environmental Coordinator, at owen.m.nuttall.civ@mail.mil. Comments must be received no later than midnight of the last day of the comment period to be considered. The Army will schedule a public meeting should the public express sufficient interest. The public will be notified of the date, time, and location of the meeting through a notice in The Atlanta Journal Constitution. 7-21/2020
